Nine One x HockeyShot

Limited-Edition Balance Board Design

Role: Concept • Art Direction • Illustration

Client: Tyler Seguin / Nine One

Independently conceived and executed.

Nine One x HockeyShot is a limited-edition balance board created for NHL player Tyler Seguin’s Nine One brand. I was asked to rethink the visual direction for the product, developing an original concept and illustration that translated Seguin’s personal aesthetic into a graphic treatment designed specifically for the board.

The direction draws from the visual language of Seguin’s tattoo art, combining a snarling wolf, Toronto’s CN Tower, claw marks, and gothic typography into a single monochromatic composition. Structured vertically around the form of the board, the CN Tower acts as a central axis while the surrounding elements create movement, balance, and a distinct visual identity.

The concept was ultimately carried through to the final production design. Originally planned as a single limited-edition release, the board sold out within ten days and was later brought back for an additional run following its initial success.

The Launch

The final balance board became part of HockeyShot’s launch campaign for the Nine One collaboration, carrying the original illustration from concept into a finished product and public-facing release. Originally intended as a single limited-edition run, the board sold out within ten days and was later brought back following its initial success.
